ZF521 was one of three original Pa-31-350 aircraft procured for the Royal Aircraft Establishment, then based at the world famous Farnborough site. The aircraft were bought from the US and delivery took place in mid to late 1985. The aircraft being serialled ZF520, ZF521 and ZF522.

The Navajo's were primarily used for "air taxi" services, to ferry flight crews and RAe staff to the various bases operated up and down the UK. The RAe's work covers many aspects of military aviation in the UK, ranging from military flight procedure planning, development of future frontline aircraft, air medicine and research duties.

The Navajo aircraft were operated from Farnborough until the early 1990's, where they transferred to Boscombe Down, Wiltshire. The exact date is unknown.

Currently, only ZF521 (and a newer Navajo, ZF622) are listed as active on the UK military register. The fate of ZF520 and ZF522 is unclear.

If you have any further information, that could enlighten me on dates of transfer to Boscombe and indeed the ultimate 'fate' of ZF520 and ZF522 - please drop me a line !

I would like to thank the staff at DERA Farnborough (new name for the old RAe !), who helped to supply good quality photos of the aircraft, for use to repaint this model.

It is recommended that you use this aircraft in association with Ultimate Panel's Pa-31 panel. Free download at this website http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/ultimate/
