Special thanks to Doug Nolan at Spartan for sending the Reference Manual and the Video.

The dimensional data for the visual model came from plans drawn by my
father Edward A. Miller (5/26/1922-4/22/1997) in 1/2" scale in 1939

He was my inspiration and limitless source of knowledge on aviation.
This plane is dedicated to him.
My thanks also go out especially to Ian Donohoe and Marvin Krim for helping
me with the Flight Dynamics of the FS5 model in relation the
subsequent conversions to later FS sim versions.

This plane is equipped with an R.C.A. directional antenna on the top
of the fuselage and a radio antenna on the underside. there is an
Airspeed indicator on the port wing.
White Strobes are on the Rudder linked to "Strobes" function in FS
and Nav lights on the wing tips linked to the "lights" function in FS.
Main wheels retract.
Flaps lower when applied (F7 or F8)
This plane is painted after a truely immaculate real "Executive"
owned by Kent and Sandy Blankenburg from Calif. who seem to make the
Fly-in/ airshow circuit.

Flying:

>>>please take note that there is a visible center flap which does not affect lift
>>>and the outer flaps have a 9 positiom adjustment.

All figures are in True Airspeed and not Indicated.
Takeoff is about 65 MPH with flaps up.
Landing is around 57 mph with full flaps - three points preferred or
she will bounce a bit.
Note: you may need to adjust the pitch trim on landing if
you have used the Autopilot or the plane will be reluctant to rotate at slow speeds.
This may be a problem in converted planes to FS98.
Flying is at 170 to 190 cruise with prop adjustment and mixture adjustment.
Top speed is about 212 mph. Range is about 750 miles.
From this video and the Manuel, I would suggest that when you take off that with realism
set to "reasonable" levels and the settings set to alow you to adjust prop and fuel mixtures that:
Take off with about 3/4 to 2/3 rich fuel mixture.
Prop to full and gradually increase the throttle.
It should lift off easily and fairly quick.
Cruise at 5,000 to 9,000 ft with the throttle and prop to ablut the 3/4 to 2/3 setting.
Turning will be helped with use of rudder.
When landing it may help to drop the throttle to about 1/4 and set the prop pitch to 0.
This will help you slow down some without supercooling the engine block.
To be realistic you should not lower any flaps and wheels above 125 mph., this means to prepare early to land.
Touch down at about 60 kts. with flaps set to about 20%

Ground turns are achieved with differential braking and rudder. Keep your speed low.
Apply the throttle to get some propwash across the rudder and it should turn fairly quick.
Anyone who wishes to discuss the FD of this plane or any FSFS planes may feel free to
contact me. I enjoy discussing this area of modeling.

Info obtained from internet sites in regard to the actual plane:
1935 - Spartan Executive
Powered with Pratt & Whitney 450 h.p. Wasp, Jr., the model 7W "Executive" is a four or
five place, closed, low-wing, all-metal monoplane designed in 1934 and first produced in
1935. It has proved exceptionally popular with business concerns and individuals who want
air transportation of the high performance class.

The cabin interior was designed for comfort. Both front seats slide back eighteen inches,
giving full door opening to both pilots and passengers. Arm rests, ash trays, dome lights,
interior and exterior openings to the 100 lb., capacity luggage compartment, deep
cushions, cabin heaters and ventilators, sound proofing, and exceptionally large windows
for excellent visibility are just a few of the features contained in the Spartan "Executive."

Performance: Cruising, sea level, 190 m.p.h.; Landing Speed. with flaps, 57 m.p.h.;
Maximum Rate of Climb, 1530 f.p.m.; Cruising Range, 950 miles; Service Ceiling, 22,000
feet; Gross Weight, loaded, 4400 lbs.
