Technical Data and
Flying the Spartan "Executive"
-------------------------------

From the video text and the Manual, I would suggest
Flying:

>>>please take note that there is a visible center flap which does not affect lift
>>>and the outer flaps have a 9 positiom adjustment.

All figures are in True Airspeed and not Indicated.
Takeoff is about 65 MPH with flaps up.
Landing is around 57 mph with full flaps - three points preferred or
she will bounce a bit.
Note: you may need to adjust the pitch trim on landing if
you have used the Autopilot or the plane will be reluctant to rotate at slow speeds.
This may be a problem in converted planes to FS98.
Flying is at 170 to 190 cruise with prop adjustment and mixture adjustment.
Top speed is about 212 mph. Range is about 750 miles.
From this video and the Manuel, I would suggest that when you take off that with realism
set to "reasonable" levels and the settings set to alow you to adjust prop and fuel mixtures that:
Take off with about 3/4 to 2/3 rich fuel mixture.
Prop to full and gradually increase the throttle.
It should lift off easily and fairly quick.
Cruise at 5,000 to 9,000 ft with the throttle and prop to ablut the 3/4 to 2/3 setting.
Turning will be helped with use of rudder.
When landing it may help to drop the throttle to about 1/4 and set the prop pitch to 0.
This will help you slow down some without supercooling the engine block.
To be realistic you should not lower any flaps and wheels above 125 mph., this means to prepare early to land.
Touch down at about 60 kts. with flaps set to about 20%

Ground turns are achieved with differential braking or full braking and rudder.
Keep your speed low.
Apply the throttle to get some propwash across the rudder and it should turn fairly quick.
Watch for nose overs.
Anyone who wishes to discuss the FD of this plane or any FSFS planes may feel free to
contact me. I enjoy discussing this area of modeling.

Pilot's Responsibility
Engine
Because this airplane is equipped with a new engine having a 10-to-1 ratio
supercharger, it is important to the engine's protection that immediately after take-off
it be throttled down sufficiently to prevent overheating. Engine operation at full
take-off horsepower is limited to one minute.

Do not sacrifice airspeed for climb.

The throttle should be opened and closed gradually because of the high ratio
supercharger.

Every safeguard should be made against dust.

NOTE: Spartan Aircraft Company will not be responsable for damage to
engines unless these directions are carried out.

AIRPLANE

Never exceed an airspeed of 257 miles per hour.

Do not extend the flaps at speeds in excess of 125 miles per hour.

Do not throw landing gear retracting switch to up position until you are
absolutely sure that the airplane is clear of the ground and is not apt to settle.
