Fokker F-27 Friendship panel for FS98

Flying the F27:
**************************

I have worked very hard to make this F27's flight characteristics as close as possible
to the real aircraft. I have made the engine instruments read approximately correct so
that actual power settings can be used.
Brian Magby First Officer F27 Eagle Jet Charter.

F27 Speed limitations:

Max Gear Extension Speed-168kts.
Max Flap Extension Speed-144kts.
Never Exceed Speed-254kts.

Take Off:

1)Apply full power and accelerate to 109kts.
2)Rotate to 10 degrees pitch up.
3)Maintain 10 degrees pitch, and climb through 400 feet AGL.
4)Once through 400 feet AGL, reduce power to 14,000 rpm, and 700 tgt.
5)Maintain 10 degrees pitch and climb to level off.
6)Let the plane accelerate, and leave power set where it is for cruise.

(In the real aircraft, once through 400 ft AGL, the power is set to 14,200 rpm and 755 tgt. Once leveled off for cruise, the power is left at 14,200 rpm and the tgts are reduced to 730 degrees. There is no way that I know to do this in FS98. So just use the above mentioned settings of 14,000 rpm and 700 tgt.)

The F27 should climb at about 1,100 ft/min at 150kts and 10 degree's pitch up.
It should cruise at about 190kts indicated airspeed at the above mentioned power setting.
this is extremely close to the actual performance of the F27 loaded to about 40,000 lbs.

Landing: (ILS)

1)Five miles from the final approach fix (outer marker) you should slow to 140kts.
2)One mile from the final approach fix you should set flaps 16, and slow to 130kts.
3)One and one half dot's below glide slope select gear down.
4)One half dot below glide slope select flaps 26 and adjust power to fly the glide slope at 120kts.
5)Once airport is in site, and you are below 400ft. select flaps 40 reduce power and land.

INSTALLATION for Flight Simulator 98:
*************************************

THIS IS NEARLY A 100 PERCENT ACCURATE PROTRAYAL OF THE FOKKER F-27 MK.200 PANEL.

This panel was based on actual photos from an F-27 at our Las Vegas
based company. This is also the first panel we've designed and opted not
to go with the photo-real look for simplification. At least for now!

During the design of this panel we had to weigh the size of the instruments
with the realism of the panel due to the limitations of FS98. We wanted to
make a panel as real as possible, thus having slightly smaller instruments
which are still readable. This should work very well for IFR flight. This panel has
been tested at both 800x600 and 1024x768 with Flight Simulator 98 only.

1)Unzip F27 Acft.zip into flight sim\aircraft directory.
2)Unzip gauge sound.zip into flight sim\sound directory (NOT THE AIRCRAFT\SOUND DIRECTOY)!
3)Unzip F27 gauge.zip directly into gauges directoy.
4)Run flight sim 98. the F27 should be there.

**Note**
There is a space provided for a GPS between the radios on the top panel. We have designed art
work to the exact size of the Trimble 2000 GPS available on flightsim.com. The panel.cfg file need
not be edited since it has the path for this particular GPS. We did not include the GPS due to
its large file size. The actual airplane flown by our company utilizes the Trimble GPS.

AUTOPILOT-

The real F-27s operated by our company (which we based this panel from)
does not have autopilot installed in any of their 5 aircraft. However, for
longer flights on FS98 we have included an autopilot.

Click on the autopilot button to display it. Once it is set you can click the autopilot button
again to hide it with out it disengaging.

ADI-

The ADI in this panel is from HGHB Virtual Instruments and has a Flight Director.
To operate the flight director, just tune in a localizer and follow the command bars.
The ADI also has an adjustable horizon, which is controlled by the mouse in the lower right
hand corner.

RADAR ALTIMETER-

The Radar Altimeter in this panel is from HGHB Virtual Instruments and has a
adjustable decision height (minimums) bug with an alarm which will sound when you descend to
pre-set minimum. The minimums bug is also controlled by the mouse on the adjustment knob of
the Radar Altimeter.

The ADI and Radar Altimeter as well as all other gauges in this panel have been modified
completely or in part as necessary by Brian Magby and Greg Jarchow in order to
accurately portray the actual look of the instruments in a real F-27.
