How to add the DeltaSim 3D lights to your aircrafts
Tutorial by Christian Silvers

1.
Download Deltasim Sirocco GTX2 here:
ftp://www.simviation.com/dynamic/sirgtxv2.zip
(27 MB)

2.
Extract the .zip file to a temporary folder

3.
Install the package to your main FSX folder if you want to keep the boat (the package is 67.1 MB total after installation)

				OR

Install the package to a temporary folder if you don't want to keep the boat. (I recommend that you keep the boat, it really is excellent.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
SKIP 3A, 3B, AND 3C IF YOU INSTALLED THE PACKAGE TO THE MAIN FSX FOLDER!

3a.
Go to wherever you installed the boat and enter the effects folder,
then copy "fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors.fx" to the main FSX effects folder.
(Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flight Simulator X/effects)

3b.
Go back to wherever you installed the boat and enter the effects/texture folder,
then copy "fx_siroccogtx2_light.bmp" to the main FSX effects/texture folder.
(Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flight Simulator X/effects/texture)

3c.
Delete the temporary folder you installed the boat into.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

4.
Okay, now that we have the lights installed, go to your aircraft of choice. (For this tutorial we will be using the default Mooney Bravo.) And open up the Aircraft.cfg.

5.
Find the [LIGHTS] section.

6.
Open "3D lights.txt" and find the coordinates for the Mooney.

7.
Copy

light.8=5,   -03.9,     -11.4,    -0.66 ,  fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors
light.9=5,   -03.9,     11.4,    -0.66 ,  fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors

to you [LIGHTS] section.
It should look like this:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3,  -2.65, -18.25,  -0.18, fx_navred ,
light.1 = 3,  -2.65,  18.25,  -0.18, fx_navgre ,
light.2 = 7,  -2.75, -18.25,  -0.18, fx_recog ,
light.3 = 7,  -2.75,  18.25,  -0.18, fx_recog ,
light.4 = 1, -17.30,   0.00,  -1.25, fx_beacon ,
light.5 = 4,  -2.90,   0.00,  -0.25, fx_vclight,
light.6 = 2,  -5.40, -18.35,  -0.13, fx_strobe ,
light.7 = 2,  -5.40,  18.35,  -0.13, fx_strobe ,
//light.8 = 3,  -21.30,   0.00,  0.00, fx_navwhi ,
light.8=5,   -03.9,     -11.4,    -0.66 ,  fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors
light.9=5,   -03.9,     11.4,    -0.66 ,  fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors

8.
Start up FSX and try out the 3D lights on your Mooney!

9.
Repeat the process for all of the aircraft you want to have 3D lights. (If you can't find the coordinates for an aircraft, you'll have to create your own.)

10.
There is no step #10.

LIMITATIONS

1.
For lights that are attached to the landing gear, you have to turn them off
manually by switching the TAXI lights off.

2.
The lights hide behind clouds and scenery.

3.
For some unknown reason, lights with a number greater than 18 (light.18=) won't show up. So I had to disable a couple of entries with a double forward slash (//).

For example (POSKY 737-700)
light.1 = 1,   1.600,   0.000,  -4.500, Opensky_beacon ,
light.2 = 1,   9.300,   0.400,   9.300, Opensky_beacon ,
light.3 = 4,  46.000,   0.000,   3.500, Opensky_Boeing_vclight ,
light.4 = 3,  20.000,   0.000,  -3.000, Opensky_nacelle_refl ,   // front cargo
light.5 = 3, -20.000,   0.000,  -2.000, Opensky_nacelle_refl ,   // rear cargo
light.6 = 3,  33.000,   0.000,   4.000, Opensky_nacelle_refl ,   // pax door
light.7 = 8,  14.000, -36.000,   5.000, Opensky_wing_light   ,   // wing/LE slat rays from inspection lights
light.8 = 8,  14.000,  35.000,   5.000, Opensky_wing_light   ,   // wing/LE slat rays from inspection lights
light.9 = 8,  25.400,  -6.200,   2.100, Opensky_nav_yellow   ,   // flap inspection light
light.10= 8,  25.400,   6.200,   2.100, Opensky_nav_yellow   ,   // flap inspection light
light.11= 8,  30.000,  -6.200,  -1.000, Opensky_nacelle_refl ,   //// wing/LE slat rays from inspection lights
light.12= 8,  30.000,   6.200,  -1.000, Opensky_nacelle_refl ,   //// wing/LE slat rays from inspection lights
light.13= 8,  23.000, -12.500,  -2.000, Opensky_nacelle_refl ,   // wing/LE slat rays from inspection lights
//light.14= 8,  23.000,  12.500,  -2.000, Opensky_nacelle_refl ,   // wing/LE slat rays from inspection lights
//light.15= 6,  43.750,   0.000, -12.550, Opensky-taxi-refl    ,   // gear bay taxi light rays from taxi lights
light.14= 3, -53.000,   0.000,   7.000, Opensky_nav_yellow   ,   // Tail Nav Light
light.15= 2, -53.000,   0.000,   7.000, fx_strobeh           ,   // Tail Strobe Light
light.16=5,   13.4,   -8.00,   -0.88 ,   fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors
light.17=5,   13.4,   8.00,   -0.88 ,  fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors
light.18=6,   38.7,   0.00,   -6.50 ,  fx_siroccogtx2_reflectors

Please take note that disabling [LIGHTS] entries might make your plane look a bit weird.
